(CLOSED as owner chef retired.) Thanks to Lee Keng Chong's sharing on 柔佛新山美食 foodie group, we came to Plentong 阿仙 for dinner today :-D

Inside the simple kampung style eatery, it is airy and spacious. Furnishings are bare bones but comfortable. 阿仙 was busy in the open kitchen at the other end. We know he is there from the non stop clanging sound from 阿仙's corner as his spatula strikes the iron wok.

Plentong 阿仙 does not have a restaurant name because, I am told "everyone in Plentong knows Plentong 阿仙". So, there you go :-D

The action at the open kitchen in the corner was frenetic.

阿仙 was dishing out plate after plate of steaming, piping hot fried noodles without a pause the whole time we were there.

阿仙 fries his noodles one plate at a time, no matter how many customers are waiting. No short cuts, no compromise. 阿仙 has too much pride in his craft to fry his noodles in bulk, 4 or 5 plates in one heap.

We ordered Hokkien mee which arrived scathing hot. It's slender yellow noodles stir fried and drenched with a flood of tasty savoury sweet sauce with fried chicken innards like liver and gizzard. The fried yellow noodles have a slight char, a nice bounce to the bite and a bit of wok hei 镬气 taste.

The hor fun noodles have a nice tender gummy bouncy bite. The slight char on the broad rice noodles has nice wok hei taste. The watery sauce made with chicken broth and thickened with an egg has layers of savoury sweetness.

The fried chicken innards have interesting crunchy and soft textures, and nice flavours :-D It makes this hor fun very likeable.

Seeing that many people were also enjoying the fried chicken here, we ordered a plate to try (RM6.40).

The golden brown chunks of fried chicken were crispy outside. Inside, the flesh was tender and juicy. It was cooked slightly pink which I like.

We were already more than full after the Hokkien mee, hor fun and fried chicken wings, but we just couldn't resist the fried bee hoon. It's on almost every other table and it looked so good!

So we ordered a plate to taste.

There was the aroma of fried garlic rising from the mound. The bee hoon was fried till there was a slight char outside but the mound still has a bit of moistness. The bee hoon has a nice bite and sweet savoury flavours from the sauce and sizzled chicken innards.

Our meal, all the food plus drinks cost a grand total of RM22.

->>  Plentong 阿仙 is a good place for nice old style fried noodles packed with wok hei 镬气 and also crispy fried chicken. We enjoyed watching a master hawker in action while soaking in the rustic kampung feel.

    2. Owh that’s sad.. the uncle is like cult hero for those who grew in the estates and villages nearby like my parents back in the 80’s ... well earned retirement
